- Fragrance oil — 6–10% of total wax weight (e.g. 60–100ml per 1kg wax)

- Container — glass jars, tins, or ceramic vessels
- Thermometer — essential for correct pour temperature
- Double boiler or microwave-safe jug

Step-by-Step: Making Your Scented Candle
- Prepare your container: Place the wick centrally and secure it with a wick holder or two pencils across the top of the jar.
- Melt the wax: Use a double boiler. Heat wax to 75–80°C, stirring gently until fully melted.
- Add fragrance oil: Remove from heat. Let wax cool to 65–70°C, then add your fragrance oil at 6–10% of wax weight. Stir slowly for 2 minutes to fully incorporate.
- Pour: Pour carefully into your container at 60–65°C. Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles.
- Cool: Leave undisturbed at room temperature for 24–48 hours. Do not move or refrigerate.
- Trim the wick: Once fully set, trim the wick to 6mm before the first burn.
- First burn: Burn for at least 2–3 hours on the first use to create a full melt pool across the surface — this prevents tunnelling.
